Social housing needs are changing and housing associations have an important role to play in shaping that vision. For example, there’s been a huge growth in key worker housing, providing high quality and affordable homes for NHS staff, teachers and police officers, amongst others. All of these are working age people who need to have reliable and cost effective internet access for work, study and leisure needs. Other residents not defined as key workers are also using the internet more frequently for a variety of social, work and leisure activities but are often constrained by the cost of traditional providers.

Equally our ageing population has increased demand for assisted living accommodation to an increasingly internet savvy generation, unthinkable even just a few years ago.

Our range of services are ideal for housing associations and other social housing providers looking to give their residents more than just a home. Once our service is installed we do all the local marketing needed to get residents excited about their new service and provide all the information about how to take advantage of it and how much it will cost.

Assisted living solutions

From our experience of working with housing associations, and providing internet services to other public sector organisations, we have developed a fully-featured internet service specifically to meet the needs of residents in assisted living accommodation.

Our solution offers basic internet access to residents, delivered over Wi-Fi that is free of charge to them at the point of use. The costs for providing the basic service are met by the housing association, and in return, we survey, design, build, monitor and maintain the service – fully managed, 24/7.

We create a bespoke portal for each housing association, where their tenants can connect to the Wi-Fi network and access a “walled garden” service without being required to create an account.

Links can be enabled to allow the visitor to the relevant sections of your own website, and also take them to authorised external websites.

You will have a large part to play in what the solution looks like for your particular assisted living properties, and be able to specify the services you would like your tenants to access freely, at no cost to them. Residents can also opt to pay for more access, opening up the rest of the internet for their usage.
